November 21st, 2021 Dampsquid Animation Screening

We're excited to announce a new upcoming event “Dampsquid", a brand new animation-focused event aimed at creating space for women and non-binary animators to showcase their work.

The screening will take place at 2pm on November 21st at De Nieuwe Anita. Get your tickets for free through the link in bio ♥️

Dampsquid originated out of the desire to connect female and non-binary animators with the rest of the creative community, animation fans and beyond. The event will provide a platform for sharing work, discovering new talent and broadening the horizons of animation. Women and non-binary creators are heavily underrepresented in the animation industry, Dampsquid seeks to challenge that. You can expect an evening filled with offbeat shorts, discussions, GIF’s you want to send to your mum, glorious motion graphics and other bits and pieces!

Dampsquid is an inclusive event, open to everyone, of all genders, identities and ages. Whether you are an animation enthusiast, designer or simply someone looking to find inspiration, join us for an evening of visual snacking and fun!

Dampsquid is the creation of Moon, a Netherlands-based creative with a background in illustration and passion for all things animated. Moon’s creative practice adds up to one common theme, bringing communities and people together. After being involved in several animation events across the Netherlands, they noticed a lack of a platform for women and non-binary creators in the animation world and so the Dampsquid concept was born

April 22nd, 2021 The Magic of No

Saying No isn’t just important in your creative life. Learning how to setup and maintain healthy boundaries can help you find balance in everything from your personal to professional relationships to freeing up time for the things you really love, like following inspiration when it hits or spending downtime with your loved ones.

Being able to turn down offers and demands that don’t suit your goals and desires, will enable you to build stronger more fruitful client relationships as well as attracting the projects and initiatives you really dream about.

Manifest destiny this is not. In this workshop we will dive deep to confront the motivations behind "people pleasing” and why it can be so difficult to break this pattern. We’ll also run through a framework with actionable steps to improve your powers of self preservation and healthy boundaries.

Tickets are available as "pay what you will” with all proceeds going to benefit Dutch Anti-Racism Foundation @nederlandwordtbeter. All parties that donate €50 or above will receive a limited edition signed and numbered A3 hand printed letterpress poster made specially for this special event, courtesy of @passepartoutpress.

March 25th, 2021 The Upside of Your Meltdown

Meltdowns. 2020 was full of them. Many of us had at least one breaking point –or ten– in the past year.
Other than the term suggests, meltdowns can be a force of good. Back-2-back meeting outbursts, bad news despair, everything-from-home exhaustion, muted screaming and solitude sobbing can help you reduce stress, think more clearly and understand yourself better. Your low could be your high when you know how to own it.
Join Rachel Kennedy (Creative Director at 180 Amsterdam), Brenda Waegemaekers (Creative/Copywriter at KesselsKramer) and Brigit Jans (Leadership Coach at Spring Coaching) in a talk that flips the script on meltdowns.
This session will include lessons on how to make your next meltdown a productive one, along with some personal experiences and interactive play. Here’s what not keeping it together can do for you.

February 6th, 2021 Code Cuisine with Cafe Robot

Join us for a delicious 2 hour coding workshop with Cafe Robot!

"Code Cuisine" is the new remote workshop by Cafe Robot, the first non-awkward Computer Club started by Amsterdam-based code connoisseur Valerie Fuchs. As you may or may not yet know, coding and graphic design have many similarities. There is a vast amount of problem solving, design and creativity in building websites as well as it being a skill that can help designers in various projects. From building your portfolio website to working with developers, understanding the basics of code can go a long way.

Combining the two worlds of coding and food, this workshop is aimed at snack-aficionados who are looking for a basic introduction to the world of (creative) coding.

Within 2 hours we will learn some basics about how a website works (the roles of HTML, CSS & JavaScript), get an introduction into variables and functions and get a tour around the p5.js editor. After that we'll take some time to draw the "dish of the day" while being able to ask questions and get support.

November 26th, 2020 Networking with Stefanie Sword Williams

Our next virtual event will take place November 26th, and joining us again is @stefaniesw from @fbeinghumbleldn on the topic of networking. One of those words that can be seen as dirty, or as an opportunity to genuinely make good connections and collaborations with those you creatively admire.

Networking is a skill that needs to be taught so it doesn't matter if you're an extrovert or introvert, we will teach you actionable steps to embrace networking both online and offline.
In this webinar, we'll explore the powers of both digital and physical networking, providing you with practical and actionable tips that will help you build your network in no time. No more than ever, we can be using this downtime to really focus on connecting with the people we want to collaborate with from the comfort of our own home. F*ck Being Humble founder Stef, spent her first twelve months living in London filling awkward networking silences 2-3 times a week, so she’ll be sharing her best (and worst) practice. So whether it's drumming up new freelance work or building a black book of contacts, we want to help!

Things you'll learn:

• How to change your view on networking
• How to research, prepare and equip yourself ahead of networking environments
• How to open conversations, pitch effectively and create genuine interactions
• How to follow up effectively, including email and social media techniques

Please join us October 21st, 19:00-20:30 for an interactive webinar- 'F*ck Being Humble' with author Stefanie Sword-Williams @stefaniesw . Stefanie will teach us tricks on overcoming fears of self promotion, learning to communicate your achievements, utilise your online platforms and capture what makes you genuinely and distinctly different.

About the event:

Self-promotion. Something we should all do more of, yet it's not always easy to overcome the fear of putting yourself out there in front of the world. As creators, it's important to be proud of our process and achievements, and we're excited to overcome our self-promotion fears with the wisdom and mentorship of Stefanie Sword-Williams, author and creator of F*ck Being Humble!

"At F*ck Being Humble, it pains us to see great talent go unnoticed," says Stefanie. That's why it's time to stop describing yourself as ‘hard-working’ and ‘friendly’ and really get under the skin of what you stand for and why people should care. People buy people, but only if you let your true personality shine through. This webinar will teach you how to confidently self-promote, communicate your achievements, utilise your online platforms and capture what makes you distinctly different.
