Ladies, Wine &
A bit of Design

A conversation series
with Sam DeLoof

Ladies, Wine & Design was started by Jessica Walsh after writing this article as an initiative to foster female creativity. Only a tiny percent of creative directors are women, and LW&D wants to help change this through mentorship circles, portfolio reviews, and creative meet-ups. In less than a year of launching, we've spread to chapters in over 75 cities all over the world.

In Kalamazoo, LW&D is a monthly meeting limited to a small group of creative women. We’ll wine, dine, and have casual conversations on a wide variety of topics relating to creativity, business, and life. If you’re a female creative and would like to join, please send an email to reserve your spot. It's free to join!

Since having been introduced to LW&D, I've become aware that there are so few women creative directors. Along with Jessica, I believe we can change that through mentorship and championing others' work. Here is some inspiration if you want to learn more:

AIGA: Women Lead Initiative
Ad Age: What We Can Do About the Dearth of Female Creatives?
Fast co: Where are all the women Creative Directors?
3% Conference: Video archive from their annual conference

Numbers show that there's a very small percentage of women leading the creative industry. However, I find the people I'm inspired by most are often other talented ladies. Here are a few women I have admired or had my eye on! Email me if you want to nominate someone for this list.
