Let’s try something new together! Next week, Eileen Kay—a meditation practitioner and student of Buddhism for almost 50 years—will guide us through the practice of ikebana, the art of Japanese flower arrangement, where we’ll learn basic patterns of harmony and mindfulness in working with branches, flowers, water, space, intuition and elegance.

For our April meetup, we’re excited to co-host a gathering with CU’s Masters of Strategic Communication Design class! In this Q&A-and-mingle style get together, some of our LW&D’ers will lead a conversation about their professional experiences to help connect with, relate to, and support a group of students who are feeling the “I gotta get a job but damn, the job market is depressing” pressure.

Our very own LW&D member, Parisa Tashakori, has an exhibition showing at the Dairy Arts Center! We Are From Iran: Persian Typographic Posters is both a visual and cultural encounter—one that invites audiences to look closely, feel deeply, and consider the power of design as a tool for connection, resistance, and reflection.

Ladies*, Wine** & Design is a global non-profit initiative with chapters in over 285 cities worldwide. LW&D was founded in 2015 by Jessica Walsh after this happened. Only .1% of creative agencies are founded by women & non-binary people, and the numbers are even smaller for women/non-binary BIPOC. Our mission is to see more diversity in the creative industry, especially within leadership roles. LW&D takes an intersectional approach to this work. We offer free mentorship circles, portfolio reviews, talks & creative meetups for underrepresented creatives.
