LWD is celebrating ONE year in the Magic City! For our paper anniversary we are offering a couple workshops by two of our members.

Letterpress Valentine’s Cards - February 8th, 10-12am
Design and print five letterpress cards for your loved ones with designer and printer, Mollie of Big Wave Paper. Mollie will guide you through the letterpress process to create your own unique cards.

Calligraphy Workshop - February 9th, 2-4pm with Emily Coe of Wilde Art Co.
Come hand letter an envelope and create a cute card to send to your favorite sweetheart. We will learn how to do some simple flourishes and embellishments to jazz up your snail mail.

We normally aim to keep our events free but for these special workshops we are charging $25 to cover supplies !

We are going to visit the Alabama Ballet for their “2nd Tuesday” event of the season! We will meet at their studios where they have wine and refreshments, a Q&A with their artistic staff and a preview performance of George Balanchine's The Nutcracker

This Friday we’re going meet at the Birmingham Museum of Art to see the “Ways of Seeing: Fashion” exhibit !! Bonus: we get to hear the voice of our favorite Julie Maeseele

We're hosing a night of critique groups/mini “show & tell” juries where women can bring any personal or professional work that’s “in progress" - anything from art, to architecture, graphic design etc.

For our April meet-up we're having an Artist studio crawl We'll start off with a social hour at The Wine Loft! Then we’ll be headed to visit the studios of Charity Ponter, Civil Stoneware and Leah Thornton ! Word on the street is that there will be wine and snacks at these studios AND some of them may even have special discounts on their work for our LWD crawlers ! So come ready to see, sip and even shop a little !
