Ladies, Wine &
A conversation series inspired by Jessica Walsh.
Hosted by Alaina Rhind & Gail Anderson
Ladies, Wine & Design is a global initiative for female creatives to have casual conversations on a wide variety of topics relating to creativity, business, and life. Our local evening conversations are held bi-monthly, with limited numbers. If you are a creative or a student and would like to join us, you can email us here. It’s free and reservations are on a first come, first served basis. And Ladies... self-definition is at the sole discretion of the individual.
You can also follow us on Instagram to keep up-to-date, we’re currently developing our Christchurch events schedule so stay tuned. If you'd like to host us in your space, share your craft, be a mentor, or lead a discussion, please get in touch.
We are looking for local creative women in a variety of fields to share their skills, so if you are interested in leading a discussion please let us know. Alternatively if you are a local graphic designer and would like to mentor students or younger designers, please get in touch as we are working to setup a support network for women starting out in the industry.

Designer Dinner series #1
While our ongoing events will be smaller with more targeted topics, for the launch event we were keen to get as many of you lovely ladies along as possible to 'Start the conversation'.
We will hear from one of our hosts Gail Anderson on gender inequality in the design industry and her experiences working the local market for the last 35 years, followed by plenty of time for everyone to converse over a wine or whatever you would like to drink.
Where: Parlour - at OGB, Heritage Hotel, 30/28 Cathedral Square.
The awesome team at OGB have offered to host us in their private bar ‘Parlour’, nibbles will be provided and drinks can be purchased at the bar throughout the night.
There are limited numbers so please RSVP if you are interested.
Unfortunately the RSVP form below doesn't always submit. We are trying to get this fixed with the parent website in NYC, but if you are having any trouble please email us here to be popped on the RSVP list.
Our topic for the night is 'The Creative Industry: the good, the bad and the ugly'.
Late September/October - TBC
Continue the conversation
We are inviting local femal graphic designers to share their stories over dinner to discuss the local landscape. Particularly - what works, what we are doing to change what doesn't work and how we can make it better for young women stepping into the industry. With the current climate we’ll also delve into thoughts on what the future holds for creative agency roles and how can we support each other creatively and mentally.
The first of our dinner series is open to practicing graphic designers, freelance or agency based, with over 5 years experience. Limited to a maximum of 12 people. With the current alert levels we are still working out the details, but will be in touch soon. If you would like to register your interest you can email us here.
With such a great turn out for our first group event we wanted to continue the momentum and provide a second larger event for creative women from a variety of fields to interact and empower each other.
Empowering each other - Project & portfolio reviews
We are currently working on finalising a date and the event format but will have details shortly. The event will be limited to 30, if you would like to register your interest you can email us here. Remember to let us know if you have any ideas, or there are particular topics you would like to hear about for future events.
In a bid to make positive change happen, we are looking to initiate supportive mentorship circles. If you are a student or practising creative and would like some feedback on your work, or are interested in private creative discussions with other supportive females in your field, get in touch and we will try and put you together with the right person. You can email us here.
Jessica Walsh started Ladies, Wine & Design in New York after doing a lot of thinking and reading on why there are so few female Creative Directors. She believes we can create change through mentorship and championing each others' work. We are inspired by Jessica's global call for open conversations on design and it is our hope to bring exceptionally talented women together.
