8th of April 2022, 7pm Creative Gym - Ceramic Workshop

This month we’re excited to host our first in-person indoors event in 2 years!

Jessie Thavonekam will host us for a special ceramic class at Cernamic Studio (36A Windus Rd, London N16 6UP) on Friday 8th of April at 7pm

Jessie is a designer who moonlights as a ceramicist. Pottery started as an after-work hobby to actively engage in a practice that doesn't require computer screens. The hobby turned into a side hustle during the pandemic and she started selling pieces online at Atelier Jessie.
Using a curated palette of colours and texture, Jessie's work is made in small batches for the considered home.

Jessie also teaches classes at Cernamic studio, and has offered to run a special 2-hour session for us. You will learn the traditional techniques of hand building like coiling, slabbing, and pinch pot, to create beautiful pieces and develop a practice that embraces organic forms. This course is great for beginners or anyone who'd like to rekindle their love for ceramic. The class cost £18, and at the end of the session you’ll choose which pots you want to keep and choose to glaze then a selection of transparent, white, or dark blue. Each pot will cost an additional £5 to glaze and be fired twice after the class. The cost of the pots can be paid with cash or via online banking at the end of the night.

We hope to see you there!

3rd of March 2021, 7pm Tete-a-Tete with Bandcamp in-house Team

We’re really excited to announce that our next event will be a Tête-a-tête with Bandcamp

Bandcamp is an online record store and music community where passionate fans connect with and directly support the artists they love. We'll be joined by art director Emma Shore, design manager Zoe Minikes, product designer Kelsey Legault, app designer Lydia Laitung, and developer Sroop Calbayrac and we'll hear from them what it's like working in music and tech, how they're setting the design direction for one of the most exciting entertainment platforms in the world, and the challenges of working as a team with members spread all across the world.

We’ll release a small number of tickets to allow more intimate conversations to arise and to make sure everyone gets the chance to ask questions, so be quick to book your ticket if you're interested.

26th of July 2018, 7pm Represent!

The UK design industry is overwhelmingly white - 87% so in fact. And just 12% of London’s Creative Directors are female. So what does it mean for Women of Colour?

Studies show that we all benefit from diversity and equality, especially in working team environments, so how can we create change?

We've partnered with Anoushka Khandwala to assemble a line-up of inspiring women and trail blazers, who will talk about their experience as Women of Colour in the Creative industry, share their advice and answer your questions:

- Nicole Crentsil
- Marisa Jensen
- Kei Maye

Jessica Walsh started Ladies, Wine & Design in New York after doing a lot of thinking and reading on why there are so few women creative directors. She believes we can change that through mentorship and championing others' work. We couldn't agree more, and we also think it would be fun to meet other lady creatives, so we reached out to her and Ladies, Wine & Design London was born.

Numbers show that there is a very small percentage of women leading the creative industry. Here are a few women based in the UK we have come to admire. Email us if you want to nominate someone for this list.
