Jessica Walsh started LW&D in New York after doing a lot of thinking and reading on why only 3% of women in the creative industry are creative directors or in leadership positions. She believes we can change that through mentorship and championing each other's work. We couldn't agree more, and so LW&D (Southampton) was born. We look forward to meeting you lovely creatives soon to wine*, dine and have casual conversations on a wide variety of topics relating to creativity, business, and life.
We believe that all genders can be allies in our shared goal to #EmpowerWomen, and so, our meetings are gender-inclusive and supportive spaces for all. And as part of our mission to 'leave no creative behind', our events are (mostly) free o' charge** (and so's the wine!). We only ask that our guests respect the inclusive atmosphere and continue to engage in discussion, and idea generation, for the promotion of equal opportunities for female-identifying*** creatives.
* Booze is entirely optional, you can drink tea, coffee or soft drinks!
** Some events may require a small fee to cover material costs.
*** Any Q's regarding our gender policy, email us.
“Southampton — typically known for its waters and industrial history — is starting to take shape as a creative city. It really feels like we are on the cusp of something exciting and it’s a privilege to be at the forefront of connecting and empowering the incredible creative community who live, work and play here.” — Jazzy (LW&D Soton Chapter Lead)
A huge thanks to our sponsors: Barclays, Etch, Fenner, Fedrigoni, GHT, Hinge, and You Agency for supporting us creative folk and keeping our chapter alive! If you or your company would like to support our creative community, email us to find out about sponsorship opportunities.
